You'll need: 1 cup of flour 1/2 cups table salt 2 tbsp cream of tartar (or citric acid) 1 tbsp oil 1 cup of boiling water Food colouring
Instructions: 1. In a bowl, combine the flour, salt and cream of tartar. Mix well. 2. Add the oil. 3. Mix a few drops of food colouring into the boiling water and add to the bowl. 4. Mix everything very well and massage with your hand until it is no longer sticky. 5. Once it has fully cooled, get playing or put in an airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to 6 months.
In the batch shown above, we used only a few drops of blue food colouring, so if you would like it to be a stronger blue then I suggest putting in at least 5 drops. We used cocoa powder instead of food colouring in our first batch of lockdown play dough because we didn't have any food colouring. It worked well and smelled delicious and chocolately for the first day. I recommend adding an extra tablespoon of oil if you use cocoa as it may be a bit crumbly otherwise.
